In 1940, Stalin decreed that his officers needed the highest quality wristwatch available. He tapped the Kirovsky Watch Factory, renowned for its pocket watches. Their creation was noteworthy for its oversized winding stem and 40mm (1½") dial and its distinctive, swiveling strap attachments. A half-century later, Moscow's Poljot Watch Factory has produced a limited edition of 2,000, virtually identical to the WWII-era originals. Each features a precision, 17-jewel, mechanical movement and solid, stainless steel case. Complete with a numbered factory certificate, matching the engraved number on the watch case. Exhibition back lets you view the precision works. Inset second and 24-hour registers. Luminous hands. Leather strap. Water resistant to 3 atm (100'). Two-year warranty.
